This Saturday, October 18, there will be a major mobilization of progressive-leaning protesters against the abuses of the Trump administration. This is part of a series of protests called “No Kings”, organized by a grouping of liberal reformist nonprofits closely aligned with the politics of the Democratic Party.
Many critics among the radical left observe that these liberal protests do not meaningfully challenge capitalism, and call for revolutionary socialists to stay home. While we do not disagree with this critique of the organizations who called the event, it misses the point completely.
Anyone engaged in the work of building a more radical mass movement in their community must see the “No Kings” protest attendees as a massive audience of righteously angry and newly activated everyday progressive working class people to reach out to. While we have no faith in the organizations who called the event, we believe in the need to go past them, and reach their audience directly.
Every organizer who cares about stopping fascism should attend their local “No Kings” rally to distribute literature and outreach materials, invite the attendees to local pro-Palestine events, and influence them toward our revolutionary politics, to go beyond their liberal misleaders!
SEE YOU IN THE STREETS!
